Trailers and teasers

Short pieces that make people want to see the film, without giving away what happens in it.

What we cut

Festival trailer

A minute or two that sets tone, genre and the central question.

Teaser

Thirty seconds or less: one image, one line, the title.

Crowdfunding video

Footage, interviews with the team and a clear ask, for a campaign page.

Social cut-downs

Vertical and square versions sized for each platform.

What to hold back

A good trailer sells the feeling of the film, not the plot. It shows the setup and the stakes and stops before the turn. For documentaries, it asks the question the film answers. We'll suggest which moments to keep out so the film still has surprises.

Music

Trailers lean on music. Use a track from your film's score, or one you've licensed for promotion. Tell us the license terms, because some film licenses don't cover trailers.

Questions

Can you cut a trailer before the film is finished?

Yes, from the footage and an early cut. Tell us which scenes may change so the trailer doesn't rely on them.

Do you add titles and laurels?

Yes. Titles in your film's style, and festival laurels once you've been selected.

Shot the film, stuck in the edit? Tell us the runtime you're aiming for, how much footage there is, and where you want it to screen.
